Asus Military Discount - After yesterday's launch of gaming laptops, ASUS is now targeting the mainstream consumer market with the announcement of the new ZenBook S. This ZenBook joins the ultraportable club, but with military-grade durability.
ASUS ZenBook S (UX391) is a premium 13.3-inch ultra-portable Windows 10 laptop. It's packed with features and has an ergonomic design. The highlight of ZenBook S is its new ErgoLift hinge mechanism, which raises and tilts the keyboard 5.5 degrees for more comfortable typing. The 4K UHD NanoEdge display also has a maximum opening angle of 145 degrees, giving users the freedom to choose their preferred screen angle. When closed, ZenBook S completely hides the hinge and transforms into a slim 12.9mm notebook.

Don't mistake ZenBook S for fragile, as its metal body is MIL-STD-810G certified for military-grade durability. The body is not only hard, it is also beautiful. It comes in new Deep Dive Blue or Burgundy Red colors, with rose gold diamond-cut details and, of course, the iconic metallic finish of ASUS laptops.

As for the specs: It's powered by an 8th Gen Intel Core processor with up to 16GB of memory and up to 1TB of SSD storage. Despite its slim dimensions, ASUS has built in an internal cooling system that ensures ZenBook S runs up to 5 degrees Celsius cooler than previous models. The notebook also has three USB-C ports, two of which support Thunderbolt 3, and it has Amazon Alexa voice assistance.
As for batteries, this ultraportable has up to 13.5 hours of battery life and charges quickly. According to ASUS, charging from zero to 60% will take less than 50 minutes.

When I first interviewed Emil and Kevin, the founders of ORII's Origami Labs, I saw only prototypes and a ring of work for audio demos. These days, the rings are fully operational and sent out to early Kickstarter backers. More features are added and more features will come in the future.
For starters, the ORII ring is even smaller and more polished. Now it's at a size I would actually wear because of the technique.
And as promised, it comes in multiple colors: in addition to black, silver, and gray, there's red to match my hair. This is really important to me because last year there were only black and gray rings and now there's finally color!

The ring comes with a variety of ring sizes to fit any finger. It's also splash-proof with an IPX7 rating, so you can use it every day.
It comes with a charging cradle, but it looks like the ring won't be on it as it has two days of standby battery and a full two hours of talk time. That's a lot considering you'll only be using it for short commands and the calls usually don't last that long (we hope!).
With the ORII Ring, all you need is your finger to hear things from your phone. The ring has a built-in microphone so you can make calls - just like a real spy.
Smart assistants are also ORII compliant. With just one tap, you can send messages and issue smart commands to Google Assistant, Siri or Alexa without looking at your phone.

It has gesture commands and there's also a button on the side of the ring that you can program to whatever you want. For example, you can simply bring your finger to your ear to activate the microphone or press a button to launch a smart assistant.
There is a small LED light at the bottom of the ring which is a discreet way to push notifications. The lights are designed so that only you can see the quick challenge and are also fully customizable.

I admit I got sentimental when I tested the ORII again. I've personally seen the growth of this technology first hand and it's great to actually experience the technology that Emile and Kevin were describing to me just a year ago. They have come a long way since last year and I am once again impressed with their progress.
