Glock 19 Binary Trigger - At SHOT Show Range Day there was a rumor about the microphone that fell on Franklin's armoury. Glock binary triggers. So read on. The collection/release trigger is made using a button. We take an in-depth look at the show floor and the shots we took that day.

Ever since Franklin Arsenal came out with its binary trigger, getting one for Glock has always been a dream. Not yet. Well, the engineers at Franklin Armory did just that. Life finds a way. The Glock Binary Cat is called the G-S173.

Franklin Armory makes a Glock binary trigger for the Glock 17, but it won't be a simple trigger swap. To have a dual Glock trigger, they worked some magic with the slide to get the trigger to work. So when you buy a Glock binary, it comes with a slide and trigger. The spring and frame will crack to present your barrel to you.

You can see that the Glock binary slide is not the same as the standard Glock 17 OEM slide. Falling in the fall to accommodate the magic.

Like other binary triggers, the Glock binary trigger has an electrical switch. On the left side of the slide is a rotary selector switch. Turn it for each stroke. Flip it to pull/release for binary mode.

Open Closet had two prototypes on hand. Below is a top cutaway view of another better looking prototype.

Below is another example. Not sure if they will offer the optics cutter or not, undecided yet. I hope they do. When the slider is well cut, explore the options.

I also shoot on a range day. I found the cats a little different than usual. But it works. A slow motion trigger freezes the film to see how it moves when running in binary mode. There is one interesting thing I learned about this trigger from high speed.

If you watch the slow motion carefully, you can see that the trigger resets the release in two steps. He goes halfway and releases the striker to hit the next round. Then, when the slide's recoil is over, the trigger is thrown back to its final position, forward pulling the trigger again for the next shot.

Franklin Armory plans to sell the Glock Binary G-S173 for $899. While one may have sticker shock, keep in mind that a standard binary trigger is around $300 and an HK binary trigger is $700. This slide only adds $199. You still need to fill your barrel and crack it properly. A Q2 release date is planned.
